Mr. Ooi serves as the Managing Partner of MRR Consulting, a firm specializing in Business Appraisal, Investment, and Financial Training. He holds numerous prestigious qualifications including being a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder, Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), a Fellow of Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA) Australia, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA), and an International Certified Valuation Specialist (ICVS). Additionally, he is a registered member of the Business Valuers Association Malaysia (BVAM) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Licensed by the Securities Commission of Malaysia as an Investment Advisor, Mr. Ooi provides expert business appraisals for sales and purchases, intellectual property valuations, and assessments for ESOS and pension plans. He offers investment advisory services across markets in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States.

Mr. Ooi is also deeply engaged in professional education. He actively delivers investment training, CFA Examination preparation, and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses tailored for fund managers, research analysts, and brokers across various locations including Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Shanghai, Vietnam, and Brunei. He is a trainer for the Securities Commission of Malaysia’s training arm, the Security Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), for courses such as the Graduate Development Program and Directors’ Training Program, as well as the APEC Work Placement Program. Additionally, he is a regular trainer for the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

In his capacity as a panel member of the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA), supported by Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysia, Mr. Ooi contributes to elevating the professional learning standards in the financial services industry. He also serves as a Visiting Fellow at the USM Management School and is a member of the Malaysian Mensa Society.

Mr. Ooi is a recognized voice in financial media. He is currently an investment columnist for Sin Chew Yit Poh and has previously contributed to The Star Business and Pulses Magazine, published by the Singapore Stock Exchange. His expertise has also been featured on Malaysian television channels like NTV7, Astro AEC, and 8TV, as well as on BFM, a leading business radio channel in Malaysia.
